Semifinals | Vail Bouldering World Cup 2017

Another great round for team Japan, they have 6 finalists! Yoshiyuki Ogata and Shauna Coxsey lead the board going into the final. Janja Garnbret is in 7th place, missing the final by just 2 attempts to bonus.

The finalists are:
1- Yoshiyuki Ogata | Shauna Coxsey
2- Kokoro Fujii | Petra Klingler
3- Alexey Rubstov | Katja Kadic
4- Jongwon Chon | Akiyo Noguchi
5- Meichi Narasaki | Alex Puccio
6- Keita Watabe | Miho Nonaka

Quick thoughts:

  • Half of the final is Japanese, again! (it happened this year in Nanjing)
  • This is the first time that Janja misses a final in an IFSC competition (speed climbing aside). She’s in 7th place along with Tskuru Hori.
  • Second senior final for Katja Kadic (after Munich 2015). This year she was really close to finals in Nanjing (ended up in 7th place).
  • Yoshiyuki Ogata seems to like Vail. This is his second time in finals, and the first one was in Vail too (last year).
  • Narasaki is in finals, but not the World Champion (Tomoa), but his brother Meichi.

Full results: men & women.

Finals at 16:30 (UTC-6). Live at ifsc-climbing.org

With 3t6 3b6 she actually needed 2 less *top* attempts (Puccio 3t5 3b3).

      • You are correct. For some reason, the IFSC website, in the semifinal results, shows Nonaka in 6th place with 3t6 3b4.
