Filip Schenk and Ashima Shiraishi, Youth World Champions

Filip Schenk and Ashima Shiraishi have won the Youth A World Championships. The podium was completed by Keita Dohi, Luiza Emeleva, Mizuki Tajima and Brooke Raboutou.

2017 USA Youth Championships results

The USA Youth Bouldering Championships took place last weekend in Salt Lake City, Utah. Among the champions, Ashima Shiraishi, Kai Lightner and Margo Hayes, all of them finalists in the Open Category that took place two weeks ago.

Alex Puccio and Nathaniel Coleman, 2017 USA Champions

Alex Puccio and Nathaniel Coleman have won the 2017 USA Bouldering Nationals held this weekend in Salt Lake City, Utah. This is Puccio’s 10th National title, an unprecedented record, and Coleman’s second. Ashima Shiraishi, Kai Lightner, Brook Raboutou and Alexey Rubtsov completed the podium.

USA Nationals: Sean McColl and Daniel Woods out of semis

After a very long qualifying round, the big news is that two of the favorites, Sean McColl (winner in 2011) and Daniel Woods (9 times USA Champion) didn’t make semis. Alexey Rubtsov and Ashima Shiraishi lead the scoreboard.

Ashima sending Nuclear War V14 | 8B+

Reel Rock has released a video that is part of the extras of the 11th edition of the series. It features Ashima Shiraishi doing the first repetition (and first female ascent) of Nuclear War, a V14 | 8B+ problem that she climbed last year.

Ashima Shiraishi climbs Horizon V15 | 8C

Ashima Shiraishi has done the first repetition of Dai Koyamada’s Horizon in Mt. Hiei, Japan. With this ascent she becomes the youngest person (and the first woman) ever to climb a V15.

Ashima sends a V14 in 30 minutes!

With just 14 years of age, Ashima Shiraishi keeps pushing the limits of bouldering. She just sent Dai Koyamada’s Phenomena V14 | 8B+ in Hinokage, Japan. Apparently, she surprised everyone (herself included) by topping the problem within 30 minutes.

Ashima Shiraishi sends Terre de Siene, 8B/+

Ashima keeps crushing, she’s now in Hueco Tanks, Texas, where she just climbed two of Fred Nicole’s classics: Terre de Siene (8B/+ | V13/14) and Diaphanous Sea (8A+/B | V12/13).

Ashima Shiraishi repeats Nuclear War V14

American climber Ashima Shiraishi has done the first repetition of Matt Bosley’s Nuclear War, a problem graded V14 | 8B that has remained unrepeated for about 9 years.
