2013 Munich Bouldering World Cup – Semifinals

The semifinals in Munich have left an unusual lineup for the final round. Who doesn’t like that… I’ll tell you who, the climbers who have fought their way through the round to find themselves out of the top 6.

These are the finalists:

  • Men: Thomas Tauporn, Dmitry Sharafutdinov, Rustam Gelmanov, Mykhaylo Shalagin, Rei Sugimoto and Sachi Amma
  • Women: Anna Stöhr, Shauna Coxsey, Alex Puccio, Petra Klingler, Mélanie Sandoz, Dinara Fakhritdinova, Katharina Saurwein

Big names missing finals: Fischhuber, McColl, Hojer, Schubert, Noguchi, Wurm, Le Neve, Markovic…

Some other notes:

  • Mélanive Sandoz makes finals for the first time since she became World Champion.
  • Petra Klingler hasn’t been in finals since 2011.
  • Dinara Fakhritdinova, current European Lead Champion, is in a bouldering final for the first time.
  • Stöhr came out second (after a bad qualifying round) and flashed every single problem.
  • Nobody could send men’s 4, though Mykhaylo Shalaguin was really close.
