2014 Bouldering World Championships – Men’s Qualifiers

Hard problems in the men’s qualifying round. Out of 112 climbers only 58 managed to get a top. The big surprise is that Rustam Gelmanov is in 21st place, out of semifinals.

Men had a tough welcoming yesterday. Both groups faced hard problems, two quick tops was enough to make semis in group A while you needed 3 in 5 attempts in group B.

Given the huge amount of climbers that took part this meant that about half of them didn’t top any problems. Some went home without grabbing a single bonus.

Rustam Gelmanov was quite unlucky yesterday. He’s 11th of his group after falling from the top of the last problem several times. He also got really close to sending the 4th problem.

Other big names that won’t be in semis are Jeremy Bonder, Stefan Danker, Jongwon Chon or Rolands Rugens.

Japan has done really well again, 4 of the 5 Japanese climbers are in semis, only Kokoro Fujii is out.
