2016 Bouldering World Championships | Female Qualifiers

Another good round in Paris with spot-on difficulty. Almost all the favorites made it through to semis, with Fanny Gibert being the most painful exception. Japan keeps dominating: Akiyo Noguchi and Miho Nonaka are tied in 1st position.

The female qualification was a really pleasant round to watch. The routes were a bit harder than those of the guys but still all of them were solved by multiple climbers.

Both groups had similar problems. Starting with slabs, then a tricky coordination problem followed by a finger strength test. Both groups ended the round with a powerful overhanging problem, double dyno included.

Japan and France did really well once again, Noguchi, Nonaka, Kaiser and Le Neve offered solid performances. That can also be said of Katha Saurwein, Stasa Gejo, Anna Stöhr and Megan Mascarenas.

Among those who didn’t make semis we find French star Fanny Gibert, who sadly ended up with her worst result of the season, 23rd. Others who didn’t make the cut are Julija Kruder, Michael Tracy, Leah Crane and Olga Iakovleva.
