2016 Bouldering World Championships | Female Semifinal

Japan won’t stop crushing! Noguchi and Nonaka lead the board after a female semifinal full of, again, very hard problems (but still easier than the ones the males suffered).

The finalists are:

  1. Akiyo Noguchi
  2. Miho Nonaka
  3. Anna Stöhr
  4. Petra Klingler
  5. Megan Mascarenas
  6. Elena Krasovskaia

The semifinal for the women had a lot in common with the male round. Very technical setting, with a couple of hard slabs, and not many tops.

The second problem, one of the slabs, wasn’t topped and only Petra Klingler (update: and Melissa Le Neve) got the bonus. Klingler is the only climber with 4 bonuses.

The cut to make final was 2 tops in 3 attempts. Stasa Gejo is the first one out of finals after using 2 attempts too many to get her 2 tops.

In contrast with their outstanding results from yesterday, today the French team couldn’t get any climbers in the final. Clementine Kaiser is 8th, Melissa Le Neve, 18th (first time she misses the top 10 this season) and Marine Thevenet, 19th.

Young Russian Elena Krasovskaia, just 16 years old, has made finals in her first senior competition. Pretty impressive.
