Perfect difficulty in the semifinal round. Every single problem was solved but none of them was easy. The French team did impressively well and we’ll see 5 French climbers in finals. Noguchi and Coxsey are first and second, the overall title will be decided in the final round.

A massive crowd gathered in the alpine town of Vail, Colorado, to witness the final round of the 6th Bouldering World Cup of the year. In the end, Akiyo Noguchi and Dmitry Sharafutdinov won with authority, being the only ones capable of sending all the problems.

Really tight semifinals in Vail. There were ties and a countback to the qualifying result was necessary to separate the top 6 (leaving Juliane Wurm in a painful 7th place). Megan Mascarenas, just 16 years old, will be representing the US in the final round.

Spectacular and physical problems in the qualifying round in Vail. The American team did really well placing 13 climbers in semis. Surprisingly Daniel Woods and Alex Johnson are not among them.

Vail, Colorado and its Mountain Games Festival will host the second North American World Cup. Vail is known as a world class destination for outdoor sports and we’ll get the chance to see many strong climbers that don’t usually compete in World Cups.

2014 Toronto Bouldering World Cup – Finals

The rich got richer in Toronto. Shauna Coxsey and Jan Hojer got silver medals and got ahead of their direct competitors Anna Stöhr and Dmitry Sharafutdinov. The gold went to a couple of seasoned veterans, Akiyo Noguchi and Guillaume Glairon Mondet. Here are some pictures and videos.
