It’s time for the CWIF 2019!

The Climbing Works International Festiva, the ultra-classic open comp that takes place every year in Sheffield, England, is underway at The Climbing Works. Hundreds of climbers, including international stars from all over the world, will compete today and tomorrow.

The CWIF runs for two days. The qualifiers (about 30 problems) are taking place today and the semis and finals (which will follow the IFSC format) will take place on Sunday.

Here’s a video explaining the basics of the event:

The CIWF is a classic of the competition calendar and many big stars use it as “warmup” for the upcoming World Cup season.

If you check the starting list, you gonna find big names like Jan Hojer, Stasa Gejo, Dave Barrans, Alex Khazanov, Melissa Le Neve, Nathan Phillips, Chloé Caulier, Matt Cousins, Rustam Gelmanov, Tara Hayes, Michaela Tracy, Alexey Rubtsov, Hanna Schubert, William Bosi

The route setters are always world class, including several IFSC habituals (people like Jamie Cassidy, Katja Vidmar or Percy Bisthon) and the organization is usually top-notch (that goes for the live stream too). So make sure you don’t miss the show tomorrow!

The semis will start at 11.55am and the finals at 6.10pm (Sheffield time, UTC).
