Kaddi Lehmann repeats Kryptos 8C | V15, becomes the second woman to climb the grade

German climber Kaddi Lehmann has become the second woman to climb a boulder graded 8C | V15, she has climbed Franz Widmer’s Kryptos, located near Balsthal, Switzerland.

'I'm very happy that I could do this boulder. It didn't feel easy and I think it is for sure the hardest boulder that I have done.'

Kryptos was first climbed by Widmer in May of 20009. Fred Nicole did the first repetition later that year and the boulder hasn’t been climbed since then and Kevin Heiniger climbed it about a year ago (thanks Bojan for the heads-up!). Lehmann describes it as “a beautiful line following a very obvious limestone seam”.

Lehmann has been working on the boulder since she first discovered it back in March of 2017. Although it felt close to impossible at first (“when I first tried it, I couldn’t do much on it – just hold some positions”), persistence and hard work paid off and she finally was able to climb the whole thing.

With this impressive ascent, Lehmann becomes the second woman to ever climb a boulder problem graded 8C | V15. Ashima Shiraishi was the first one, with her repetitions of Horizon and Sleepy Rave.

Recently Lehmann also climbed Pura Vida 8A+ | V12 and, back in 2015, she repeated Fragile Steps 8B | V13 in Rocklands.
