The female category was marked by the absence of 3 of the best boulderers in England. Shauna Coxsey decided to take some rest and skip the event, while Michaela Tracy and Tara Hayes couldn’t compete due to injury. This left the door open for Leah Crane to claim her 3rd British Championship title.

On the male side, 2016 champion Matt Cousins couldn’t defend his title, but he climbed well and ended up in 4th place. It was Tyler Landman who offered the best performance and stood on top of the podium, followed closely by 19 year old Slovenian Anže Peharc, who also topped all 4 problems.
