Preview | Chongqing Bouldering World Cup 2017

The second World Cup of the year it’s here! The massive Chinese city of Chongqing will kick off the Asian tour this weekend with a combined event of Bouldering and Speed.

This will be Chongqing’s 6th World Cup, they’ve been organizing events since 2012 and the city has become a classic stop in the Bouldering World Cup.

All the athletes going for the overall will be there, and though we will miss several European competitors (like Katha Saurwein, silver medal in Meiringen) we will have bigger Asian teams (Singapore, Korea, Taipei and, of course, China).

You can check the starting list here.

Will we see another dominant victory by Shauna Coxsey? Will Tomoa Narasaki and Akiyo Noguchi make up for their modest result in Meiringen?

Fingers crossed for a working live stream. Usually streaming from China is close to impossible for the IFSC. According to an official statment from their website they will be trying a new system this time:

LIVE Streaming
The IFSC has been working hard to bring LIVE streaming of its Chinese events to fans on YouTube, and on Saturday a new solution will be tested for IFSC World Cup Chongqing. Please stay tuned to the IFSC homepage for updates on the LIVE shows!

Let’s hope it works and we get to enjoy a great show (for free!).
